London flight makes emergency landing in Warsaw after bomb threat

A flight from London carrying 181 passengers made an emergency landing at Warsaw-Modlin Airport on Tuesday after a reported bomb threat.

A LOT Polish Airlines flight from London Heathrow was diverted to Warsaw-Modlin Airport on Tuesday morning after a reported bomb threat. The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 carrying 181 passengers, was originally due to land at Warsaw Chopin Airport but landed at Modlin, around 40 kilometres north of the Polish capital, at 10.01am. The airport was closed while bomb disposal experts and security services inspected the plane and passengers' luggage to verify the threat. Polish Airlines said they were notified by airport authorities of the potential security threat. This was the second such incident in 24 hours: a Wizz Air flight from London to Bulgaria was diverted to Budapest on Monday after receiving a similar threat, and a Gripen fighter jet was deployed to escort it.
