An 86-year-old mariner and his dog were rescued 460 miles off the California coast after more than two months at sea. Police arrested two men and seized a haul of weapons following a two-vehicle collision on Lichfield Road, Wolverhampton, at around 8.30pm on Monday, 2 November. A 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife and assault after a police officer was injured. A 54-year-old was arrested for obstructing police after trying to take the uninsured vehicle away from the scene. A series of weapons were found inside one vehicle, including two knuckle daggers, two lock knives, an adapted cosh and a mini axe. Paramedics treated the injured officer at the scene. Both men remained in custody.

Labour unrest in Bangladesh's garment sector has entered its fourth day as police fired tear gas and sound grenades to disperse protesters. Factory workers began demonstrations on Saturday demanding a monthly minimum entry-level wage increase to 30,000 Bangladeshi taka from the existing 12,500 taka, forcing owners to suspend operations at more than 300 factories across the country. The government formed a panel on Sunday to revise minimum wages in response.

Two men have been charged after a knife fight at Worthing railway station on 11 October involving three people brandishing weapons. Layton Kandumine, 18, of Langton Road, Worthing, was charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon and remanded in custody. Lewis Thomas, 22, of The Plantation, Worthing, was charged with violent disorder and possession of a bladed article in a public place and released on conditional bail. Jordan Honey, 29, from Felixstowe, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 15 years after attacking a woman in Torquay, Devon, with a zombie knife. Honey travelled more than 300 miles by train whilst carrying the weapon, arriving on October 11, 2025. He sent the victim threatening messages before forcing his way into her home, threatening her with the knife and pressing it against her neck. During the assault, he told the victim he was going to kill her and her family. He was convicted at Exeter Crown Court of intentional strangulation, causing grievous bodily harm, and three other offences. The victim defended herself by grabbing the knife, sustaining hand injuries.

Zoltanne, 85, arrived in the UK in August 2025 to stay with her daughter and grandchildren in Norfolk. Her family say her dementia deteriorated significantly during her visit, leaving her largely housebound and dependent on relatives for daily care. The Home Office initially refused their application for her to remain on a long-term basis, citing available care facilities in Hungary. However, the family have now received confirmation that Zoltanne has been granted 30 months' permission to stay in the UK.

Password manager mSecure has confirmed a data breach and told customers to immediately reset their passwords, two-factor authentication and passkeys. The company, mSeven Software, said on 3 November it learned of suspicious activity and that an unauthorised actor acquired an encrypted copy of a database containing user information. The Arch Company is investing £1.6m to transform 12 railway arches in Carlisle that have stood vacant since Storm Desmond in 2015. Firefighters were called to Buddha Sanctuary Spa on High Street, Canvey at around 11.20am on Tuesday, November 3, where they found a fire in an electrical cupboard on the ground floor. The spa said the fire followed a repetitive water leak from the flat above that had affected the electrics. All staff were safe. Three men have been jailed after attacking a 17-year-old in Bicester in April. The Labour government has dropped plans to close Healthwatch Oxfordshire, the independent health and social care watchdog for the county. The RSPCA has launched an appeal after CCTV footage showed a man punching a tan and white bull breed dog in the head around four times outside Sainsbury's in Tulse Hill at approximately 9.30am on Friday, September 4. The man was also accompanied by another tan-coloured bull breed dog. The RSPCA has released an image of the man and is seeking information from anyone who was in the area.
